Ok I tired to make MMF Fondant tonight......I came out like cement what did I do worng? It seemed ok with half the amount of sugar and then when I added the rest WHAMO CEMENT I threw it away and cleaned up my mess and moved on to making some roses for samples.....
Can I have some advice please
THank you
I would love to hear what people have to say. I made MMF tonight as well, and although I managed to get it all mixed up, when I tried to work with it and colour it, it was soooo tough and hard. I too tossed mine out, I decided to go with a chocolate fondant bow (I had the ready-made chocolate fondant) instead. ![]()
K welcome paula and meg.
well a couple things you might try doing if your batch gets hard.
1. pop that puppy in the ol micro for bout 10 secs and it should get softened a little. Don't put it in for more than ten secs at a time or you'll end up with a big gloopy mess in your micro.
2. Put some crisco on your hands and on your kneading surface and knead it into the fondant. The heat from your hands and the crisco should soften it right up.
I never thought to try shortening. I did try glycerin, as I thought I had read somewhere that it would work. It did make it easy to work with, but not half as easy as my Pettenice. After 40 minutes of kneading, my MMF was still not coloured, and the Pettenice took maybe 10?
