Hello,
Has anybody here used Patchwork Cutters ?

I've used patchwork cutters and I love them!! The do have a clean crisp look. You also layer them so that they look kind of 3-D. I have two cakes that I did in patchwork cutters, so I'll try to post them with this.

Here's a few examples of stuff I've done with patchwork cutters... I was fortunate to take a class with Nicholas Lodge. They also sell patchwork cutter videos. The cutters are very versatile and you can do sooooo much with them!!

I like the patch work sample board. I did not know about patch work, is there a thread about how to do it?

I have a few cake deco books that use patchwork cutters to emboss the cake....and then they trace over the pattern with brush embroidery. It looks awesome. Here is an example of one by Peggy Porschen:

A patchwork cutter is kind of like a glorified cookie cutter. You used them to create several different effects. I have a video from Margaret Ford, I think. You can make the cut outs, like are on my cakes and on Tami's cakes. Then like to picture beany showed, you can use them to emboss onto fondant or gumpaste. You can do the brush embrodery or paint with a mixture of petal dust/powedered food coloring and alchohol (vodka, or lemon extract). There are a couple of other techniques, but it's been so long since I've watched the video that I've forgotten what they are. icon_redface.gif They are lots of fun to use and i hope you're able to find what you're looking for.

If you do a search with the word "patchwork" , you can find some threads on the patchwork cutters. Here's a link to one that explains exactly how to use them.

PS I wouldn't search for "patch work" or use the word "cutter" because then you get a myriad of posts, most of them talking about cookie cutters. icon_smile.gif

Go to pat-t-cakes.com Pat Jacoby uses them and sales them in her shop she did a demo at our cake club meeting and they are awesome. I bought several sets and love them. I made a bundle of the letters out of gumpaste and then just pull them out as I need them and then airbrush or paint them the color I need.

Oh I forgot to tell you - You can get them on ebay too. Marion Frost is the creater and has books - 10 so far and each book features certain patchwork cutters and the many things you can do with them, the cakes in the photos are great.
