Those are beautiful cakes but what is a patchwork cutter and what did you do on the cake with them

A patchwork cutter is kind of like a glorified cookie cutter. You used them to create several different effects. I have a video from Margaret Ford, I think. You can make the cut outs, like are on my cakes and on Tami's cakes. Then like to picture beany showed, you can use them to emboss onto fondant or gumpaste. You can do the brush embrodery or paint with a mixture of petal dust/powedered food coloring and alchohol (vodka, or lemon extract). There are a couple of other techniques, but it's been so long since I've watched the video that I've forgotten what they are.
They are lots of fun to use and i hope you're able to find what you're looking for.
If you do a search with the word "patchwork" , you can find some threads on the patchwork cutters. Here's a link to one that explains exactly how to use them.

PS I wouldn't search for "patch work" or use the word "cutter" because then you get a myriad of posts, most of them talking about cookie cutters. ![]()
Go to pat-t-cakes.com Pat Jacoby uses them and sales them in her shop she did a demo at our cake club meeting and they are awesome. I bought several sets and love them. I made a bundle of the letters out of gumpaste and then just pull them out as I need them and then airbrush or paint them the color I need.
