Looks like chocolate is the 'in' thing around my area right now!! Have another order for a chocolate iced cake....but they want a white almond sour cream cake w/choco hazelnut filling.
This will be a two tiered cake iced in chocolate BC and I can decroate however I want...and I really like the chocolate cakes that have fresh fruit like; strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc. on top. Just wondering if all the different flavors of cake, icing, & filling will clash w/fresh fruit??
Sounds great to me...the only thing I would add would be to dip the fruit in a little melted chocolate - you can never have too much chocolate!
I think blueberries would go wonderfully with that cake..yuummm! lol They actually sell chocolate covered blueberries and they are delicious. I think with the almond/sour cream cake and the hazlenut filling (Nutella?) it would be a fantastic combo!
IMO, blueberries, choc. covered or not, would complement the other flavors very well. Also, strawberries & raspberries are used all the time with cakes, where as blueberries you mostly see with pies....might be a nice surprise for the customer? ![]()
thanks for the suggestions!! i think the choco covered fruit idea would be great, but i like the constrasting colors of the fruit w/the chocolate. so I'm going for that look.
I was thinking about attempting to do 'sugared' fruit!! But I need to find some instructions. I know I've seen them, but not sure where!!!
That would be so pretty! Here's a google search I did...the first one at hgtv.com gives pics with the instructions. I've also used a simple syrup for brushing the fruit with, as opposed to egg whites or a meringue powder/water solution...just to be extra safe. Good luck...I'm sure it will turn out beautifully!
