Visiting New York Where Can I Buy Cake Decorating Equipment

Hi,
I am visiting New York for a weekend on the 27th of April.
Are there any shops selling Sugarcraft Equipment in New York, New York.
I would LOVE to be able to go shopping there.
Are there any cake related places we could visit? I emailed one very amazing New York cake person, but they don't have a regular shop that you could pop in to.
NY Cake at 56 West 22nd Street. I went for a week a couple years ago and limited myself to only one cake store (that one) and I ended up spending $$$ in a major way (and still order from them to this day!) 
If you are a traveler, when you go to pay for your purchases, ask them to mail them home to you and they will!! 
Saves space on the plane! 
And while you're there, go down a couple blocks to the City Bakery (3 West 18th Street, 212-366-1414) and have a giant Chocolate chip cookie, a huge cinnamon roll or one of Maury Rubin's world-famous tarts! (The sour cherry almond one is TO DIE for!!) Have fun, it's a great city!!
Oh yes, I almost forgot -- if you go to 39th and 9th, right on the corner is the world-famous Cupcake Cafe. Ann Warren does fabulous work and you'll love the flowers! 545 9th Avenue (and 18 West 18th Street is her newest bakery.)

I have seen pictures by the cupcake cafe, so it is a good place to take my Mum and Sister when we are there!

Having lived in NYC, I would not recommend shopping at NY Cake Supplies. Rudeness is defnitely a must-have experience for every person who walks in the door, but more importantly, their prices are double the norm and sometimes more. Their merchandise is often old and dusty, too. But what really gets me are their prices! They'll sell a $3.50 item for $9. So, be careful what you buy and know your prices beforehand so you can compare. Believe me when I tell you that they don't have anything there you can't get elsewhere for at least a third less.
I used to go in there from time to time, but would never go back no matter how badly I needed anything. One last thing - there are absolutely no refunds under any circumstances, even if it's their mistake so be careful not to pick up the wrong item.

You can visit Colette's shop, btw. She sells her own cutters and her signature aprons. And everyone is really nice...LOL.
Another Bakery you can go to is the Magnolia Bakery (forget the address.) I didn't know about it when I was in NYC but I would love to drop by there sometime too!

And on your unrelated note I have been to Design A Cake & it's like Dr.Who's tardis LOL! I've only been once, because it's real long way from where I live, & from the outside it looks like a garage but when you get inside it's so huge & amazing. The staff there are really nice people. I order a lot of things from them online & their service is excellent.
Magnolia Bakery is on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. Their cupcakes are very well known, although I must admit the icing is better than the actual cupcakes. There are long lines on a regular basis, so you can't go wrong.
Another very cool (although not cake related) place to visit for a unique, albeit familiar favorite, is Rice to Riches in Soho on Spring Street. It's across the street from Lombardi's Pizza, the first pizzeria in NYC - ever. Anyhow, Rice to Riches only serves rice pudding - in flavors you've never imagined before. Try the chocolate hazelnut, or mango. It's incredible and you won't find it anywhere else. It's been featured on the Food Network. Pizza at Lombardi's and dessert at Rice to Riches. My mouth is watering!
Design A Cake will be my first stop on my next trip to the UK. My husband works for a British company and travels there on business quite frequently but he wouldn't have a clue what to buy. He wouldn't drool as much as I would...LOL.
Have fun on your trip. NYC is a great place to visit. OH! You can also stroll by Ron Ben Isreal's cake place, and Sylvia Weinstock's, too. Not sure how much you'll be able to see, but it's great to see those places close up (in addition to Colette's, of course).
