I am making a first communion cake for my son but I am debating if I should write the message on the cake with pipping gel or it would look better if I would trace the pattern with color flow and place it on top of the cake. The wording is like a swirl pattern in blue.

I rarely do messages on cakes now, but when I do, I use melted chocolate and font templates under parchment paper as a chocolate transfer.

It is a more welcome form of writing for the children in my family. They hate piping gel, and I am not crazy about the pinprick method, which to me seems like twice the work.
