So, When Do You Eat Your Easter Meal?

I was planning on making our meal at 3 pm-ish, but DH assumed it would be brunch-ish. It's the FIRST time I'm making a special meal for Easter and it's mainly because it's my turn to bring a meal to a new mom with the momsclub I belong too...
So, now I'm curious - when DO most people eat ham/turkey on Easter? In my family growing up we gorged on candy in the morning, ate eggs and bread and maybe tomatoes for lunch and then had a normal dinner...
DHs family is orthodox (well, his Mom is, not his long gone dad (divorce)) and they ate eggs and ham and bread and cheese for brunch and that was their main meal. They would eat something small for dinner.
Hmmm... MIL usually makes the ham the day before and serves it cold... what to do, what to do!

We usually have ham, au gratin potatoes (better known as cheesy potatoes at my house), steamed veggies (sugar snap peas and carrots this year), homemade rolls and cream cheese pound cake with sliced strawberries and sweet whipped cream for dessert. ![]()
There have been years I've done a brunch though.....
See, this was my thought process. Most people go to church on Sunday if they are church going people. If they have kids, they probably do eggs before church, so they probably aren't going to early bird services.
We go to a "sort of" church (ethical society) and they don't meet on holiday weekends, so that's not a factor for us, but in GENERAL, my guess is that most people eat when they get home. Now, if they've gone to church, they still need to COOK the meal! And either turkey or ham takes a good chunk of time even if you have it all ready to go. That takes you to about 2 pm for dinner, right?
So, I figure between 2 and 3 for dinner is a good time... I was thinking 3 just so we won't be too full from our late breakfast of eggs and traditional Croatian Easter bread (pinca {pronounced peentsa} ).

Easter meal? What's that? lol I wish we'd done something with extended family today, but we were at church all morning and were just too beat to think about going anywhere or making a big dinner, so we ate chicken nachos! lol Just stayed home and watched movies with the kids. It was nice, but not the traditional way to spend Easter. ![]()
Turns out we didn't eat until almost 6 pm and we almost had dinner for MONDAY... My little one has a bad cold so he was super clingy and i didn't think he would ever stop whining enough for me to make ANYTHING... but eventually he perked up and I got the ham in the oven. It was SOOOO good too! First recipe I've used out of Braising cookbook!
