Does anyone have an idea for a fortieth birthday cake for a woman? Her husband is planning a suprise party for her at her church. The over the hill or graveyard theme just doesn't seem to fit her. I'm really stuck for ideas! Please help!

My motto for my 40th was

A woman is like a good bottle of wine, she gets better with age.
A winebottle maybe?

Or a cake made like a beautiful young woman with a saying (from her husband)
" You will always look like this to me?"

How about a cake in the shape of a 4 and 0 decorate with flowers or scrolls or something. It would be elegant, but also specify the occasion.

http://www.cakesbydawn.co.uk/photogallery/photo1688/Fortieth1.JPG has a really nice example.

Thanks for your replies! I think that I've got an inspiration, and it will all work out. Her husband told me that her favorite cake is a red velvet. So I think that I will run with that as a theme. Just an elegant cake, maybe oval, with pearls of frosting with luster dust and either red roses or candied red rose petals. Maybe I'll make another cake on the side for the kids in the shape of the 4 and 0. Thanks for the help! This site is great! Now I just need to find a great recipe!

Must be getting late...I read that as you were going to make an elephant cake, oval, pearls, etc. icon_confused.gif I couldn't figure out how you got an elephant out of the wine, grapes, and cheese. icon_lol.gif

Okay, I'm turning in.

Zzzzzz,
kos

I agree with the elegant idea!!! Men take aging with a sense of humor more often than woman...and (LOL) elephants would send the wrong message!
