I just don't know if edible images are "my thing". I'm on my fourth or fifth printer....I can't even remember any more. I just got it out of the box and put my inks into it but the head is clogged. ( Cannon made me keep the print head and just sent me a refurbished printer).

So I go through steps to clean it (running under warm water, alcohol, etc) and I still cannot get black or yellow to come out at all!!!!!!!! icon_cry.gif

Next, my blue just ran out compelely during another cleaning cycle and blue is the biggest part of the photo I need to print for a cake on SATURDAY! It's Monday now. icon_mad.gificon_cry.gif

A) should I call Cannon and have them send me a new print head also "express shipping" and order a blue ink like "overnight" or......
B) can I email the picture to one of you and have you mail it back to me right away?? I'll mail you 2 frosting sheets for your trouble.

I just need to get this solved right away!! I have a huge wedding on Sat also and 3 more cakes before those!! icon_eek.gificon_cry.giftapedshut.gif

Which printer do you have??

Where do you order your inks?

All this may impact why you're having so many issues. I've had good luck with my iP1500. It's the two tank. I order my supplies from Kopy Kake.

I'm down to two frosting sheets, other wise I'd print yours. I need to print 100 images for cookies this weekend.

I've had some pretty stubborn clogs. What probably happened is the edible inks in the nozzles of the print head dried and clogged it. The best way to remove these is to reverse purge the print head. It has always worked for me even on the toughest clogs. To do this, line a shallow bowl with several layers of lint-free paper towels and soak the paper towels with a plastic safe cleaner. Press the print head down onto the paper towels and let it set for about 15 minutes then gently rock the print head back and forth or pat it on the soaked paper towels. The cleaner will start seeping up through the nozzles. Rinse the print head and repeat until the cleaning fluid seeping up through the nozzles is free of ink.

To get some ink fast, order from www.sugarcraft.com They're my emergeny back-up and I order from them when I need supplies fast. Regular shipping to me takes 2-3 days.

I have it soaking right now. I had run it through the water earlier and the water was coming through just fine. I just don't understand it.

Not to mention it wont do anything at all with an empty ink tank! With all of the cleaning, it's taken lots of ink.

I have the Cannon pixma3000.
I ordered some more ink from Kopykake (cost me over $17 in shipping to get it here in three days) but it won't do any good unless i can get it unclogged.

I'm going to stroke out - I think. icon_sad.gif

I wouldn't mind printing the photos for you but I only have wafer paper and I know that it is not the same as frosting sheets.

I so appreciate everyone's willingness to print..... there has to be someone out there that can help....

I'm now soaking in Windex window cleaner and when i press down on it, I see the ink come up through very well. How can it be clogged and print all streaky if the ink flows like it is?

sunlover00,

Take lisa's advice...I had this happen to me and soaking the printhead in the window cleaner worked for me. It was my black that had the clog.

If you are unable to fix it...I would be happy to print the image for you. If you email the picture and tell me how big you want it...I can mail it to you tommorrow.

You can PM me with your address. Let me know and I will mail in from the post office in the morning.

The streaks are called banding and it can mean that some of the nozzles are still clogged. You'll also want to make sure that the ink is still flowing from the cartridges well. Try shaking them over a paper towel and if ink comes out, they're good. Sometimes the opening in the cartridges where the ink comes out can crust over and cause clogs.

If that doesn't solve the banding problem, try printing at a higher quality.

You also might want to consider purchasing cleaning cartridges if you haven't already thumbs_up.gif

Lisa, yep, banding is what i have (on top of no black or yellow). I actually had cleaning cartridges in the machine when it stopped working so I was surprised that there were clogs at all. icon_confused.gif Anyway, I'm soaking the head. I have it on paper towels; should I be soaking directly in the liquid?

Traci - OMG thanks so much! I'm going to PM you right away.
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((BIG HUG)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

If I ever get through this, and the cannon won't work, I'll see if I can get all of my $$$ back (cuz i just bought a 2-yr warrenty due to so much trouble) and I'm going back to Epson!

Is there any way to "free up" the cartridges if they are dried? That may be the problem -- nothing shakes out of them at all. I get a little ink on my finger if I touch them but not much and I have to press them.

You can soak it directly in the liquid if you want to, just as long as the cleaning fluid is in contact with the nozzles.

The way I free up the ink is to drip fresh edible ink into the openings using my refill kit (careful not to poke the sponge with the needle). If you don't have a refill kit, you can try sealing the cartridges (upright) in a zip-loc bag with a warm, moist paper towel.
