I am making a three tiered cake, stacked on top of each other. It needs to feed 80 people, so what sizes(round) would you suggest for this, and how many layers for each tier?

Also, can someone explain to me the whole idea of using a cake board- is it really needed if I am going to dowel it? HOW do you use them?

Thanks!

2 layers for each tier. 12, 9, 6 will feed 80 people. I think I'm right. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Doweling I'm not to sure. Thanks

Hope that helps

I believe there is an article on CC about the stacking, doweling etc. You do need a cake board and perhaps a masonite or you might have to stack 2 cakeboards together for this amount of cake. I am not sure. Someone else may be able to answer that one.
