Has anyone seen the new Wilton ready made bows and roses they have out now? They resemble gumpaste, but are made from something else. It says they are non-toxic but not a food item. I bought one of each this past weekend at Hobby Lobby (40% off) and was playing around with them. I attempted to "color" one of the sprays of roses with luster dust, but it didn't want to take the color really well. It turned out ok, I've attached the pic. It looks antique. I just wanted to see if anyone else had seen/experimented with these, and what you thought. Any ideas on how to make the color stick?

Wow those turned out wonderfully. Have you tried the spray on color?

I was reading in the new Wilton Tiered Cakes book, that they use non-toxic colored chalk to color them.

I haven't tried spraying, I don't have an airbrush, trying to invest in one. But that may be good. The directions came with the chalk instructions, but I thought that since luster dust is just like that it may work the same. I don't have any chalk, but maybe I'll get some and try it out. I still think that it would come off to the touch though. Does chalk set after steaming?
