I have a a question about the gift box cakes.....I want to try one withthe tissue paper showing and the top lid lifted some.....
Is the top lid cake? or styrofoam wrapped in fondant? I would like to do it with cake...but how do you get it to stand as if its lifted? most look like they rest directly on the tissue paper.
please help!
twinsline,
If you look in my photos there is one of the type of cakes that you're talking about. The lid is cake wrapped in fontant. The lid does not rest on the gumpaste "tissue" because it would squish or break all of the really nice curves that make it look like tissue. The lid is held up by two dowels that are taller than the cake and the "tissue" is filled in around to hide them.
I hope that helps
Peachez : That is a beautiful cake by the way. If I can just jump in & ask one question....Is the lid cake covered in fondant or something else? I'm sorry if you already answered it, but I was just curious..thanks
thanks peachez....that helps alot!!! I havent tried gumpaste yet...Im assuming I can do the tissue in fondant too?
Thank you so much for your help!!
twinsline...I'm completely sure you could use fondant to make the "tissue".
ge978...The entire cake, bows & sunflowers (except the tissue) are all are made from MMF.
