Tell Me! How Do You Charge For Your Cakes?
Decorating By klsrtr Updated 4 Apr 2006 , 12:49am by chellebell70
I was wondering if I could get the inside scoop on how everyone charges for their cakes!
Example: Birthday cakes do you charge per serving or do you have set prices for 1/4, 1/2, and full size sheet cakes.
Wedding and tiered cakes do you charge per serving and how much?
Character cakes?
Torted and filled cakes (with something other than buttercream)
If anyone would like share how much they charge that would be great.
I am trying to get a good rounded price sheet for all of my cakes.
THANKS SO MUCH
Kim
There is a price sheet that someone has on here that is really good, They emailed me a copy, but I am at work and dont have it now, unless somebody else can get it today I think I would probably be able to email it to you tonight, I think I saved it on my home PC, if you would like!

I think it depends on where you live. I have not done a character cake. but for other cakes I would charge at least $2.50 for something very simple. I And keep in mind your shopping, equiment etc.
I am in the process of nailing down prices for my web site as well. I do have mine priced per single layer and double layer per cake size, sheet, rounds etc.. But I have tried to make it very clear that cakes are priced on difficulty, so they should call for an exact quote.
I charge extra for basketweave, fondant, figure molding, and delivery and set up. I do have a price sheet it is in word format. If you would like I can e-mail it to you...
But note that I am out in the boonies, and my prices are on the low end.
I would also like a copy of that price list if it's not to much to ask. It's hard to know what to charge. I can add up my expences but then what? I do alot for friends and just take and tell them cost and let them decide what to give me...I don't have much word of mouth "business" yet.
