I'm doing my first cake for pay, YIKES!! I'm deliberately undercharging just in case I really screw up...

Anyway, the cake is going to be stacked presents with characters from the baby's room decor. I want to make these little animals to put all over the sides of the cake, as well as some "suns" which I'll probably just pipe on with buttercream. For the animals, though, I was wondering if I should use colorflow, white chocolate or some other technique? I know how to do colorflow, but if you recommend something else, could you please include a hint as to where to learn to do it properly?

I would love any and all suggestions!
Thanks everyone!

Maby consider molding the characters from fondant? You could have them sitting in 3D on your cake.

God Bless,

I really like choc. transfers. There are several examples in my photos. There is also a tutorial on this by Squirelly. I think it was under Easy Choc. Transfers for newbies.

You could do chocolate transfers, as newtodecorating suggested, fondant as cristacake said, color flow, royal icing, or even decorated cookies. I guess it all really depends on the look you want.

Oh I forgot to welcome you aboard! I see this was your first post. No doubt the first of many! Good luck with your cake.

Thanks for the responses. I'm looking into the chocolate transfers. I really like your Madagascar cake, NEWTODECORATING, and the animals I want to do would be perfect in that sort of outlined look.
And thanks for the welcome! I've definitely jumped into the deep end here. All the cakes I've seen posted here are great, and a real motivation for me to keep practising - maybe I'll have something worth posting soon, too...
