Urgent !i Have To Do This Cake How Can I Do For The
Decorating By doudoun Updated 5 Apr 2006 , 7:28am by AmberCakes
I don't know how you would get either to stay up there..even with dowel pieces or picks. Seems like it would be too heavy. Maybe dummy letters? Good luck. Maybe someone can help! I LOVE that cake, though!
doudoun, Luggi has a good point on the cookie idea, I have done a couple of cakes with the No Fail sugar cookies on the sides of the cake, they are pretty easy to do. I used a little bc icing to attach to the sides of the cake and they stick real good, good luck![]()
If she wants the same thickness of lettering then I would have to go with the cookies too. You could bake cocktail stick sticking in them (like nails), and then use those to push them into the cake, I'd also use buttercream or royal for extra strength too!
Yeah, those are definitely cookies. Where did you get that photo? Maybe you could contact the person that made it and ask them what they did.
Good luck,
Heather
I'm new to cake decorating, so I'm not sure if this would work but......
Couldn't she make the letters out of thin pastillage and then put a layer of black bc on the back to make them appear thick?
does she want the hearts and/or the topper in the pic? If so, how are you planning on making them? but, those letters seem so thick, don't they....the first thing that came to my mind was cookies, too, but I just don't know......this probably didn't help much, so just consider it a bump atleast.
Good Luck!
that's what worries me..is the thickness of them. It seems like they would be too heavy. ![]()
Yes, I would say they are cookies. Just glue lollipop sticks to the backs with the royal icing so you can insert them into the cake.
Here's an article that Antonia74 wrote to teach us how to do cookies the way she makes them. They're fabulous!
Lots of pictures in the article to help understand, and feel free to ask more questions here too!

Laura.
You could do this with rice paper or if it doesn't have to be exact and it's fondent (ugh) stamp it with food color. You can get on line and figure out how to make the stamps.
That's gorgeous! I wonder if she dries her cookies on a "curve" to get them to sit nicely on her cake?
I was thinking the same thing.. I also think they are cookies
The letters look something like this pan:
