I was sooo nervous about this weekend, but I pulled it off. I made 3 cakes in the past 2 days (well, 3 days if you count baking the cakes and then freezing them. I wasn't sure what exactly I was going to do with the cakes but I had an idea.

The first cake I did was my daughters birthday cake for Saturday...it is the Strawberry Shortcake cake...I think it turned out pretty good. I had never done one like that before...It was harder than I thought but still fun. Making all those stars is hard work on the hands.

The second cake I made was the frog on the golf course with his leg stuck out in front of the ball blocking the ball from the hole. I had seen lots of golfing cakes but not one like this...the idea just kinda came to me. I thought it was cute since the girl I made this for is someone that I play golf with.

The third cake was just a small 6" cake that is the pond cake with the frog. I had seen a fellow CC'ers pond cake and thought it was cute...I just changed it to "Hoppy Birthday"...Both frogs were just made with BC icing that I just sort of rolled in my hands when it had crusted a bit. The frog on the golf cake is alittle cuter but I am proud of my cakes. I think they turned out pretty good.

Any advice about how I can improve except to practice, practice, practice?

You did a great job! I know what you mean about being nervous. I space out lots of time between my cakes and turn down so many opportunies out of fear!

I just feel I need to get a bit more experience under my belt...not to mention giving time for my 2 year old handful to get a bit older.

Again, saw the pics. Great job! Love the frog.

Good job!

I'm scared to death, this summer I have a few weekends with three wedding cakes in two days, and one with three on the SAME day...delivered far apart. icon_surprised.gificon_eek.gif OMG I see some freezer time coming for sure.

You did great!!
i had 4 cake for one party last year. This year might be the same. But i think i'll go more simple and make 1 huge cake or 2 med sized ones. My SIL celebrates all her kids birthday on one day. The worse part was wondering how to travel with them for 1/2 hour on a bumpy road.
keep up the good work.

They're cute! The only thing I would change is to give the frogs black pupils on the eyes - it'll just bring them to life and finish them off nicely icon_smile.gif. I recently did 9 orders (a sculpted fondant canoe for 65, a sculpted fondant guitar for 35, 4 x 32 piece cupcake cakes (all with chocolate transfers), a dolphin/sea cake for 50, a fondant superman cake, and a batch of Easter cookies (24) - in one week! I was ready to drop after that lot lol!

Well done on yours, they are all very nice!

i learnt long ago how to say no after having 6 cakes to do in 3 days and not going to bed until 2-3 in the morning you learn to say no to orders pretty quickly after doing that a few too many times............NO, it can be a life saver...lol
