First, I would place a small amount of icing on the cake board and then place your cupcakes really close together and ice them smooth. i don't cut the crowns off of mine. You can arrange them into any shape and then ice them or you could arrange tehm in a rectangle shape to make it look like a 9x13 slab. Really easy and fast. Decorate as usual.
