I know that wilton doesn't make a true red but I was looking on the shop and what is the difference between Super red and red red food coloring and do they actually give a true red?

I have found that Super Red from sugarcraft seems to work the best. I dont think red red gets dark enough. Wilton makes a christmas red that is pretty also. I prefer to use paste over gel, but paste coloring seems to be increasingly harder to find now. In order to get a really dark red, it takes almost half of the container of coloring. Otherwise, you will get a really bright magenta like on a few of my cakes listed under my photos. They were both made with a SMALL amount of super red!
Also note that red coloring has a bad taste to it, and many companies make "no taste red". You might want to give those a try. Just know that you will have to use ALOT of it to get from bright pink to red.

I believe the poster is referring to the Americolor Super Red and Red Red Gel paste Food coloring. If that is correct, try PMing Colorboy, he is our official Americolor Rep on CC and he will gladly answer any questions you have about the different shades.
