I was wondering if this is wise to buy or if I should just construct a house on my own. Does this thing actually stand on it's own? Has anyone had sucees (or disaster) with it???

Any help at all please!

Thanks!

Oh yeah and also - what cake would be best - is the white almond cake in the recipes here dense enough? I've never made it.... but want to. Or would I need pound cake? I hope not b/c it is SO dry...

I would like to know, too. I bought the pan but I haven't used it yet.

I make it all the time and love it. I have had no problem making it stand up at all. I also just use a regualr box mix for the cake, noting special or dense for it.

I had to make a dollhouse cake, but I hate having to buy specific pans that I may never use again...so I just baked sheet cakes and cut and stacked to make my own.

I was very pleased with how it turned out. Hopefully I can attach a pic, but if not, it's in my photos.

crumbscake and mocakes, I just love your houses. They are so cute and creative. I can't wait to try a house cake. I wanted to bake one for my Brother-in law's housewarming, but I was going out of town so I ended up just drawing a house on a sheetcake and freezing it for him.

I thought about getting that pan but it doesn't look like it would stay upright because it's not very big from front to back.

so anyone who's used it: Does it fall down easily?

I have the pan and had trouble with the cake staying upright. I used a DH cake mix but didn't add the pudding and egg that would make it pound cake. I think the pound cake variation would have worked better.

I had no problems with it...I just used skewers to hold it up.
Also, when I have to use the pound cake...I mix with another mix...comes out really nice.
Here is the one I did. I was scared...but it was quite easy actually.

Good luck.
