ok, my husband would like a strawberry cake w/strawberry icing for his bday on sunday. Since the cake will be pink & the icing will pink....any ideas on how to make this a little more 'manly'???

he doesn't want alot of decorations...and would probably prefer none...but will do some any way. I was thinking of maybe drizzle w/chocolate on top and let run down the side a bit and then top w/chocolate dipped strawberries??

Chocolate was my first thought. I like your thoughts on it! Maybe chocolate drizzles down the side and then cover most of the top w/chocolate-dipped strawberries. And maybe a chocolate BC for a bottom border? If you dont' want to do the strawberries, maybe do two "shades" of chocolate BC (one w/more cocoa or brown coloring than the other) and layer them for borders?

Yep...chocolate over the top & down the sides came to mind first for me too...lol. If you did some choc. dipped strawberries you could maybe try doing the little tuxedos on them? Have you ever done them before? You just dip them in white choc. first, the whole berry up to the crown of the berry. Then once that's dry, dip in milk or a dark chocolate while holding the berry on an angle to make the 'V' shape. Next you just put some of the dark choc. in a bag (I just use a parchment bag, no cutting and just the right size to do the tiny decorations) and pipe on little dots for the buttons and a bow tie. I've even piped on a lapel before to add a little more detail. If you get it set up like a little assembly line they go really quickly. I do them in the summertime sometimes just to get my kids to eat the strawberries...lol. They can be a little finicky about foods sometimes... icon_rolleyes.gificon_lol.gif
