I've always done cakes for family and friends. I have a wedding cake to do for a friend but I have to deliver it to the reception hall, set it up and then leave. I want to have something for the manager to sign off on that the cake was left in perfect condition. I plan on taking a photo before I leave but does anyone have a suggestion as to how I should word the "Sign-Off"? It is a well established country club - I just don't want to look unprofessional and have them sign off on a napkin
(kidding). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Just write up a "delivery receipt" and have the manager sign it confirming delivery.
I'd print something up that has a space for the date, as well as the time, and for the signature of the manager and yours as well. Then the text could just be something like 'To confirm that so-and-so (you-and/or your business name if applicable) has delivered a cake per the order of so-and-so (the customer) on this date and time. It is set up on the designated cake table and is in good order.' It doesn't have to be too wordy...just something to get the point across. I would also still take a picture of it even if you have someone sign something. It's always a good idea to cover all of your bases, especially with a wedding cake, IMO. Maybe someone who has more of a 'full-fledge' business with wedding cakes may have something like this they use that would be of more help. Hopefully they'll see this and share...I for one would like to know the best way to do this too! ![]()
Great ideas! I think a delivery "confirmation" receipt would be in order...
Also...I would definitely take a picture of it before you leave! You might also want to take advantage of the time/date feature on your camera if you have one! This will verify the cake's condition upon delivery and your departure!
Go to www.earlenescakes.com. After you enter scroll down to the right hand side where it will say Bride's Letter and then under that one there is a form. Both of these are very helpful plus a lot of other things.
I have a receipt book that has 2 copies-I leave one with the cake so whoever comes in to check things out receives one and I have a copy along with the picture. I have it say-set up and left in excellent condition-no markings, no alterations. Haven't had a problem yet.
