I have a question about the cake dummies. I just ordered mine from Dallas Foam and it says on there that they are washable. But everything I've read on here says that you should cover them with saran wrap or something first. Is that because the dummies are really not washable? Or is it more of a preference?

They are washable as they're a very sturdy foam. BUT, a lot of people recommend wrapping them just to preserve them. It's also a little easier to clean off. You can just peel the glad wrap away and toss it. I wrap mine in glad press n seal.

Thanx, mmdd. I tried like crazy to wrap them in regular wrap! It didn't work.

I wrap mine in stretch wrap they sell for packing and moving. Then, I hit it with a little heat to shrink it even tighter to the dummy. Works great, but you have to be careful with the heat, or you'll melt things.

I wrapped mine in the shrink wrap you can wrap gift baskets in then take the hair dryer to it to shrink. Yes - watch for the melting!!

I don't have holes in any of mine. I guess (if I'm thinking right) that you would get holes in them if you're going to put a dowel or use that stacked tier cake set...the one where the central pole is in the center and it can hold lik 7 cakes...or maybe 5. I don't know, anyway...I don't get holes in mine........Can we hear from some one that does?!

THANKS! I am wanting to place an order today so that I can give them enough time and pick up on Friday (off from work). I remember my wilton instructor had holes in hers to show us how she puts the dowel rods in place.. icon_cool.gif
