Poor thing!!! I wish I could help but I'm in TX, maybe Hubby can help you, maybe there's a good baker inside him!!

Hope you feel better soon! icon_smile.gif

Oh, I am so sorry that happened to you! That must be frustrating!

Do you have anyone that could help you bake the cakes? Or maybe when you're working on them take frequent 15 minute breaks to sit and elevate the leg??

I've decorated sitting down before, but it definitely isn't easy!

Best of luck, I hope you feel better soon.

I sprained my ankle once and did not slow down one bit. Do you have a stool you can set on in the kitchen to work from? Wrap an ice bag around your ankle and bake away if you can tolerate the pain of a sprained ankle. icon_biggrin.gif

Sorry this happened to you and hope it will be a faded memory in light speed time! thumbs_up.gif

i'm sorry, but when i read this, i had to laugh. one year (many years ago), my dh (bf at the time) baked me a cake for my birthday. lemme tell ya about this cake! it was practically raw on the inside and the texture was grainy. i had to choke it down and smile because spitting it out would have been rude! it was a simple rectangle cake, but it was lopsided, with one end being higher than the other. i have no idea what he possibly could have done to this cake. i don't think there's a baker in there anywhere, lol.

but thanks so much for thinking of me. i'll bake them both tonight, then decorate one tomorrow and the other on saturday to spread it out some.

the worst part about the whole thing was how embarassed i was. it was such a stupid thing. i stepped on it and landed on my butt against the couch. what's worse, that was the ONLY toy on the floor and leave it to me to trip on it. i'm such a klutz.

Try using an ace bandage to hold the ice on around it while you get the batter ready and once it is in the oven take a break. If you can try decorating it while it is on the table and if it is not low enough park it on an adjustable ironing board if you have one and make it low enough so you can sit and work on it. My son left a toy out and I tore a ligament in my foot so wore a boot for 6 weeks--so I feel your pain!

sorry to hear that. Just take it easy, can you mix and bake the cakes today. Then relax, then start working on the cakes but take a break when your ankle starts to hurt and maybe you can sit down when doing certain things on the cake.

Hope you are feeling better soon! I'd try to use a stool as much as possible.

O.K. I know you may think i'm crazy but this remedy does work. I know because i've used it at least twice before. Get a paper grocery bag and some apple cider vinegar. Put some of the vinegar in a pot and bring it to a boil. Remove it from the heat and put a strip of the paper bag in it and let it soak for like a couple of minutes. Take the strip out and wrap it around your ankle. Make sure and put the strip on as hot as you can stand it. Then put a ace bandage around it to hold it on. Sounds gross I know but it will help your ankle. Do this 2 or 3 times a day. I sprained my ankle really bad in high school and my mom did this and I could walk on it without crutches in about 2 or 3 days. I also used this remedy last fall when I sprained my other ankle and was walking on it in a day. Crazy I know but it works.
