Also what is the best luster dust color to buy? i have never used anythign besides the wilton stuff (dont know what its called) and dont really like it that much but am willing to try luster dust. So what is your favorite color so i can order some.

I'm confused by your first question about Silver Luster dust... Are you looking for a specific topic discussing silver luster dust or where to get the dust?

As for favorite colors, I guess it is personaly preference, I have many pinks and purples with a handfull of other "major" colors. I tend to use the lusters more on girly cakes, that is why I keep more of the gurly colors. icon_biggrin.gif

The stuff Wilton makes is not Luster Dust. It is some kind of sparkle stuff you can sprinkle on your cake. I use Nu Silver luster dust. You can get it lots of places.

My favorite luster is Super Pearl. You can brush it over any color of fondant (or RI or gumpaste) and it leaves it looking so shiney!! thumbs_up.gif

i was asking where on this CC site to get silver luster dust that i hear so much about on various forums. I looked where the other luster dusts are and only found white.

i have tried both of the wilton "dusts" the big flake stuff and the small powdery stuff.

what do you add your luster dust too?

Do Not une that Wilton stuff on FBCT. It will melt and look smeared.

My favorite colors are the Gold highlight and Siver highlight..You can use them for almost anything. I also love Moonstone.

You could buy many colors from SugarCraft.com

You can really paint it on anything you would like to be shiny. I've even used it on crusted BC!

Oh! CC does not have silver luster dust yet, that I know of. Many different on line stores carry nu silver which is really good. Cakes By Sam, Beryl's, Sugarcraft, Country Kitchen and many others carry Nun silver.

If you click on the "shop" tab at the top you can find the luster dusts that CC sells here. Also, I get luster dust at www.candylandcrafts.com

I have also. In fact I used it to "paint" the words on the butter cream cake shown in my avitar. (Avitar sound like something from the Charmed ones or Stargate SG1 icon_lol.gif)

I went to CC site to purchase silver luster dust, and found they didn't have it. They did have some sort of silver in some kind of dust. I ordered it, it seemed to work the same way as the other luster dusts that I ordered on this site. The stuff Wilton's sales is absolutely not luster dust. I bought some and tried to mix it with vodka, it did not mix. When I bought real luster dust, it does desolve and end up in a paintable form. Most people use it to give a piece the look of silver or gold, like the hardware on a purse or something. They also paint balls or bows made of MF or GP to make them look like pearls and give them some shine. I think my favorite is the gold, because after painting GP with gold LD and applying it to my cake, everyone kept asking, can we eat that gold stuff, you mean it's just sugar. I got the biggest kick out of watching everyone scratch their heads over that one.
