i usually use the Wilton candy melts that come in different colors. i buy them at Michaels. i've also tried Guittard Melt 'n Mold. i get them in white, milk, and dark chocolate at Party Warehouse. i've seen the colored ones at my local cake specialty store.

I have been doing chocolate transfers for over 20 years and have used the candy melts, they can be very tempermental. I prefer to use almond bark candy coating, it is easy to find and very inexpensive. Everyone has there own preference and I think alot of it is what you get use to working with. I can tell you I melt a block (2 oz each)or two in the mic, add some paramount cyrstals, color it with reg paste or gel colors, put it in a 2 oz plastic bottle and create hundreds of pictures and text chocolate transfers. I currently have agout 50 bottles, I love to match my colors exactly.
