Wilton Fondant Or Mmf

I am taking Wilton's course 3, should I buy the Wilton fondant or make the MMF? icon_confused.gif Which is easier to learn with?

Well Wilton is icky but it is great to work with. For class use I would probably go with Wilton.

Are you covering a cake with it??? Then I would make and use MMF. If you were just learning decorations then I would use Wilton, but not if you are covering a cake. Otherwise you wouldn't want to eat it when it's done.

If you aren't going to eat it and just want practice than use Wilton. If you want it to be edible, make MMF. Good luck.

i took course 3 twice. i used the wilton for the first one so i knew how to work with it and i used mmf for the second time so that i could learn how to use mmf with the wilton way.

I used a coupon to buy a pack of the Wilton just to get a feel for things. Then I used MMF after I played around with the Wilton, that way I knew how it should behave and what it should feel like, etc. I took my MMF to class after I tried it a few times, but beware, everyone will be asking you how you did it and want recipe and technique help!

Use Wilton fondant if you are using a cake dummy. If you have real cake and want to eat it use MMF.
