Can You Carve 3D Cakes Using Extender Recipe?

From what Ive read on the boards here... yes the extender recipe makes the cake durable enough for carving ![]()
I haven't attempted 3-d cakes, so here is a bump anyway for others to chime in.

I want to use a cake mix with extender to practice a 3D cake..so that sounds great..I'll give it a whirl...even though I usually scratch bake, if this is good, I will likely use this for the real cake as well.
It will be my first attempt at "carving"..it isn't due for a month but I want to practice so I know what I am doing...have a Thomas cake and a purse coming up ...
