i am making a bonnet cake for easter this weekend and had a few questions.

i want to make the cake with my new 9" contoured pan and cover it in buttercream. then make the brim (?) fondant. how can i tint the two so they are the same color?

i am not good at flowers yet, so i was thinking to put silk ones on the bonnet with a ribbon. is there a certain way to stick them on?

if you have any other tips on how to be successful at this, i'd appreciate it!

i think that's all for now. if i think of anything else, i'll be back! lol

thanks so much to anyone who can provide insight!

i want to do mine like this one from lilrev

well, here's how it turned out. it's a vanilla cake, torted and filled with marshmallow cream and covered in buttercream. the brim is mmf.

It's beautiful! And it will be okay-do you have a box to set it down in?

your cake is beautiful. Do you have a large square pan- like the 16 inch pan.? You can place it in there, cover with plastic wrap and transport it that way. I have done this before and haven't had any problems. Also if you have a no skid mat use that underkneath and it won't move at all

I think your cake came out great! Just carry the cake without a box.

jescapades -

I feel awful that no one had any suggestions for you before you started but the cake turned out really wonderful. I've had the problem with making cakes that won't fit a carrier or cake box. Just look around for something and hopefully, you'll find a fit.
