Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has a name of a good book to learn how to make fondant figures.
Do they have to be made in advance ? and can they be placed on a buttercream iced cake without sinking ?
Re: the book - someone else will have to help you with this one... I just wing it myself.
as for the other q's -- making them in advance gives them time to dry/harden up and if the buttercream is a crusting sort, they won't sink.
There are alot of people on CC that are excellent at making models/figures... maybe do a search re: figures etc.
Hey, That was quick ! I am new at this. Thanks. So I gues it's too late to make them for Easter weekend ?
the books by Debie Browns are the best foe fondant figures.
Yes, its better do make the in advance.
about the BC I can't help you, I only do fondant
nope, if you do it tomorow, you'll have them for friday

If you have a Michael's or JoAnn's near you, go check out the books about working with polymer clay, specifically Sculpey. Also, www.sculpey.com has a ton of projects available online. The clay projects can be extrapolated to gumpaste/fondant.
I'm brand new at modeling, so these are really helpful in that everything is broken down to the simplest components.
And, Aine2's info is excellent, also!

I love the tutorials here but something I do is just go to google.com and type in what I'm looking for like yesterday I typed clay bunny and got a great tutorial to make a polymer clay bunny but of course I will be using fondant but the directions are the same. Also my kids have some clay modeling how to books that I just love ![]()
