I am doing a baby shower cake for 150 people. I have never done a shower this big. I need ideas!!! (I stink at ideas) The baby's room is done in story books...I was thinking book pan in her fav book and then sheet cakes? I could use a bookworm somewhere..

I really want to do something that will knock their socks off!

Thanks!

A tier cake automatically comes to mind. Check out the gallery for ideas.

What about Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes? Maybe you could create several book cakes with your favorite nursery rhyme on each book cover.

Or do a tiered-cake with each layer being a nursery rhyme.

I'm not sure how many each of the book cake pans serve (I know Wilton makes 2 sizes). But I think it would be soooo cute to do several of these with a different nursery rhyme on each. You could do the written rhyme on one side of the cake and an illustration on the other.

Hehe, now I want to make a cake like that! icon_lol.gif

I recently bought the 2 mix book pan (Wilton) and it says it serves 30.

Prterrell, I do like your idea of the nursery rhyme on one-side and illustration on the other. Sounds sooo cute. And it does make you want to do one for somebody.

Yeah if your more comfortable w/th just cake pans not tiers, then the idea about each book being a nursery is the best idea. It just sounds so cute! Good Luck!

You could do a tiered cake and have humpty dumpty on the top with a fondant brick wall on the sides, another layer with "Hey Diddle Diddle" characters around the side, or other rhymes.

you guys are awesome! Unfortunately the party planner nixed more than one book cake. I have the 2 mix pan so I can make one of those. I like the idea of tiers though! I am trying to find out what the mother's fav books are and then I can go from there.

Thanks!

If they only want one book, then you could do the Index of Nursery Rhymes as the book cake and make the tiered cake with each layer as a particular nursery rhyme(s)

you could do a tiered cake with a gumpaste book that is the mother's fav on top and then "tumbling down" the tiers characters from that book along with whatever scenery is in the book.

You could do a stack of books and then have one open book...

or a stacked cake with "books" around it ( like duffs postcard cake) and then a cute topper like a cute baby bookworm laying across a gumpste book reading it.
