I have a friend wanting me to make a b-day cake for her dog icon_eek.gif Does anyone have any good recipes for a cake and icing? I mainly need the icing recipes as I found some cake ones but have no idea as to how they are.
Thanks thumbs_up.gif

Just make sure everything is dog friendly. thumbs_up.gif How about a small dog house or a fire hydrant.

I am not sure if you got your recipie's from a dog friendly site or not. But I would not really suggest doing a cake for the dog itself. Maybe try making dog cookies instead I know several recipes are on the web. I am actually in veterinary medicine and a dog eating table food of this nature could easily become a bad thing. Any thing from upset tummy to a vet trip for issues with the pancreas. Maybe treats for the dog and cake for the human friends good luck

I make doggie cakes using cornbread, laced with babyfood meats, bits of sausage sticks and sometimes grated cheese. For frosting, I make a VERY thick gravy out of broth, canned milk and flour. After it is totally chilled, I beat in Crisco until it is of piping consistency. I want to use lard, but can't find it here, for some reason. I put no sugar in my doggie cakes at all. We give our doggie an inch-wide sliver at a time for a treat. A decorated cake will last at least a week in the fridge. Pix of two of mine are in my photos.

How cool...If my sharpei hadn't passed away I would make him one just cuz he was such a good boy and he was wrinkley.

Take a stroll through this website:

http://www.cleosbarkery.com/index2.htm

This "barkery" does birthday parties for dogs. She lists the ingredients for the different cakes/treats. Also has a lot of pics of the different cakes she's done.

The term "over the top" keeps popping into my head! icon_lol.gif
