Does anyone know if the bear pan takes 1 cake mix or 2?

I poured 1 cake mix in and it doesn't look like it would rise to the top.

Sorry for asking, but I've not done the bear before and I bought the pan with no instructions.

Thanks!

if you are using the 3d cuddly bear pan, it looks like you will need 1 1/2 cake mixes, so you will have to make two.

there are several bear pans, but if you do a search on wilton.com, you should be able to find the one you are using and instructions for each.

hth. good luck.

I think the instructions say 6 cups of batter...

I always use the cake mix extender with the wilton flat pans as 1 mix is not enough...

Just a quick question. Did you use a regular cake mix? You really need a firmer batter for those type cakes. Kinda like a pound cake, or even the mix with the extender recipe. I know from experience. The first time I made one, I used the regular mix, and it was too moist and soft, His head fell off.

I use a Duncan Hines yellow mixed with a Betty Crocker pound cake...

But also the instructions claim you are supposed to cool the bear head side up...no way...always keep it head down like its baked, and then cool it a side at a time in the pan as stated.

Takes some practice, but it can be done! I had a horrible time my first several tries.

I mix a Duncan Hines mix with a pound cake and worked out great! Just a cake mix and it won't hold. Mine lost a foot and buttercream wouldn't keep hold it together after the fact. Good luck!
