If I am at the party, I usually get roped into cutting the cake. The excuse used to be that they didn't know how many pieces to cut it into, now it's because I always do it and I'm so good at it, so I should just continue. I am kind of torn by this one. As some have pointed out, we spend hours making sure every detail is just so. I created it, I really don't want to destroy it. But then again, you take a zillion pictures so you have proof of your awesome artistry, and someone pass me a plate!

I'm always so tired of looking at my cakes when I'm done that I seem to have that "Good Ridons" (sp?) attitude!!! Plus I tend to be too much of a perfectionist with them, so I start thinking well...It doesn't LOOK good, so maybe it will TASTE good!!! icon_lol.gif

I feel a twinge of sadness, all that hard work... but I get upset if they don't cut the cake, i worked hard and want it to be eaten and enjoyed... Ive had several times when no one would cut the cake because it was "too pretty".. and I had to go do it myself otherwise no one would eat it.

The first few were a bit difficult. But now, I'm like dig right in. Though I have to say, I hate it when people ask me to cut my cakes. I'm pretty sure I'm not good at it, and I've already done so much work, don't make me do anything more icon_razz.gif

Nope... I get impatient waiting for them to cut it already! I love the reaction of "it tastes as good as it looks!" That's the best part.

I do hate to be the one cutting the cake. icon_cry.gif It seems like I always get stuck at the cake table. I'd rather have someone else do it so I can enjoy the party! icon_biggrin.gif

I love it when people are eager to cut into my cake--I'm always a little disappointed if there's any left over. It's my goal to have that cake GONE by the end of the event!

Nope - doesn't bother me in the least. Wacko! (But I think I'm the weird one.) After taking the picture, I'm done, done, done with them.......

Some artists I know have an extremely hard time even selling their items. They think of their pieces as their babies. I have never had this issue with any of my art work.

Why just this week I got a dumpster to clean out my storage area to set-up for my sugar sculptures and I threw out all of my paintings and pottery. Good-bye and good riddance......now onto my next lovely little sugar creation.

Ok, the only time I am sad about a cake is when I make a paid cake, cause then they take it home and I can't get a piece!!! Most cakes I make are for family and friends and I'm usually there to enjoy a piece.

Take a picture, cakes are for eating. party.gifbirthday.gifparty.gif

ps: I hate when there are left overs also.

I want my cakes to be eaten and enjoyed. I don't want to go through all that work for nothing. At the same time I've made it my hard and fast rule that I WILL NOT cut my own cakes. Sometimes I've had to grab a knife and give it to someone and make them do it, but usually I just go in the other room and wait for DH to bring me a piece icon_lol.gif

The only one I didn't want to see cut was Auntie Griselda - I think because everyone said she was a self-portrait!
I'm a cook, this decorating stuff is new to me. I say EAT IT, IT'S GOOD!

Usually when I finish a cake, I am just really glad it is done. The cutting and eating is good closure for me, so I actually like it.

It does for a second. Like a bandaid, but then it's over. Then there is enjoyment when people are enjoying the cake!
