Help! I have a lady that is on our Board of Directors that has asked me to do an 'Easter/Birthday' cake for her 26 year old son-in-law.

She won't give me his favorite color, any hobbies he likes, etc. She just says 'I know you will come up with something cute.' icon_eek.gif

So, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know because she wants it for Saturday.

My first thought was an Easter Basket cake with blue flowers (not many and blue since it is for a male) with a fondant bunny on top. Written on top it would say "Hoppy Birthday" or something like that. But, the more I think about it, the less I like it for a 26 year old male.

Anyone??????

Hmmmm, that one makes you think a little!! It's hard to combine a male's birthday cake with an Easter cake, especially when the lady said you'd think of something 'cute.' If he's like my brother he'd think it was hilarious to have a chocolate bunny on top of the cake with some little chocolate covered raisins scattered in the grass as if the bunny had left him some little birthday 'gifts', but you don't know if that guy (or the lady) would find that in bad taste (no pun intended-LOL!) Maybe you could leave off the raisins & just do some sort of chocolate bunny on top of the cake. Good luck!

cute

which leads to this idea:
playboy bunny logo --- but done up in easter colors?

or she could be hatching from an egg

Good ideas, I really like all of them, especially the playboy symbol, but I don't think his mother-in-law would appreciate that. She seems kinda uptight.

Thanks!

I have to say it is frustrating that she won't give you ANY ideas...I'd call her back and pump her for information.

Oh I love the bunny poop idea.... how about "Don't be a party pooper...have a great birthday!" Maybe even try to make the bunny look more realistic and not so "cutsie".

building on bunny poop idea....

use the whoppers (or similar) malted milk eggs (the ones whoppers sells in the little blue milk carton) as the bunny poop.

unless of course you want multi-color poop...then use their mini-robin's eggs (yellow milk carton)

I always thought a cute cake would be a take off of the email joke we've all seen...two bunnies facing each other, one has his ear bitten off, the other his a** bit off. The one bunny w/ the a** says, "My a** hurts, the other bunny w/o the ear says, "What? I can't hear you. " I guess it shows my immaturity. icon_lol.gif

cupcakemom --- LOVE that idea. That would be perfect, you really don't want it to kidish after all, I don't care how uptight the mother-in-law is, it's his birthday. Go for it.

Oh my gosh you guys are SO funny icon_lol.gif I love these ideas.

If I were doing the cake I would call the lady up and give her these ideas and see if she finds them funny. I would say most guys would.

Anything with poop or farts guys love. Plus anything with a girl/playboy bunny they love too.

thecupcakemom, i just got that email today! again. and i laughed, again!
That is a good idea, and you could actually get the chocolate bunnies, cut their "ends" off, then slice them in half so they lay flat on the cake. You could make their thought or speech clouds out of fondant and write on them with food color pens.
Oh, please do post a picture when you settle on a design! this is getting so good. Good luck!

-cake shaped like a big marshmallow peep wearing a birthday party hat.

-big marshmallow peep wearing a tee shirt saying happy 26th birthday

-sheet cake - letter from the easter bunny requesting that next year *son-in-law* moves his birthday to a date other than easter because it really puts a damper on his arrival and the egg hunts he spends all year organizing.

yours truly,

the easter bunny

Chocolate basketweave with chocolate covered strawberries on top?

::shrug::

My DH would love it - that's what he wanted for his last birthday.

I think the idea of putting chocolate eggs, like the different cadbury flavors on top is a good one as well.
