Just wondering what everyone thinks of this VERY VERY sloppy practice. I did this quick today with not enough frosting, couldn't find my smaller tips for the design and I want to make the top of the dress a little smaller so the bottom looks longer. This is only my 2nd cake so I am VERY new at this....but trying my best!

I think it will turn out really cute. It always helps to practice. I think the bow on the dress is a perfect touch. Nice job!

You know Jill, for your second cake, that's pretty darned good!! I know if I were on the receiving end of that cake I'd be thrilled to get it!! Keep practicing and your confidence will build. Good job on your cake!! icon_smile.gif

You did good! The icing on the bottom half looks like skirting and your collar is well proportioned and lacy looking.

I love your design. Maybe if the bottom skirt flares out a little bit, or making the top part look less "bustier"......try defining/triming the sleeve area more. Your final version is going to be a fantastic cake!

Not bad for a second cake. I think that with enough frosting, it should be great!

the detailing at the top looks great. Looks great whether it's practice or not. I'm sure the real thing will look awesome.

Here is a tip for ya too!

If you want to keep your lines and writing straight you can take a toothpick and do a light impression right into the frosting. You will be piping over it so no one will be able to tell!

It looks great! It helps to have a "practice" cake. The lace design and bow are precious and I'm sure Ava's parent's will be pleased with your work.
