Its about the buttercream dream. How come when I use viva towel and the icy comes off with the towel. Did I do something wrong with the recipe it was my first time making it yesterday and I dont know if i put too much milk or I need to put water instead. What did I do wrong?

Help! it sure does taste different than the wilton icy i learned in class.

I've never used buttercream dream, but what you're describing sounds like you didn't let it crust. Did you wait long enough to let it crust? I usually wait about 10 minutes and sometimes longer if I made the icing too thin. HTH

I use BC Dream (Love it!) and never have issues, so my guess is you didn't let it sit long enough to crust... if it's sticking it means it hasn't crusted yet. Leave it a little longer. Sometimes placing it in the fridge for a few minutes works well too icon_smile.gif

I just had the same problem today! Mine came off in small areas where the icing wasn't laid on thick enough!! Mine had sat overnight, so I know it was crusted! I used milk, btw...

Do you think you can make this in chocolate? and if you can would you use your regular chocolate addatives that you would use when you add it to regular butter cream?

funny you ask because I just posted a threat last week about chocolate icings. Someone said they added melted chocolate to their buttercream dream.I tried it and it was nice. Kinda more like a chocolate mousse taste than real chocolate icing.

Frig your cake and let it crust. You can also use a foam paint roller - works great.

Yea, the Ultra Smooth foam roller works GREAT! It is smaller than a normal paint roller. I got mine at Home Depot, very inexpensive and it smooths almost as smooth as fondant. You don't have to wait for icing to crust either. Roll lightly and you will get the results you are looking for.

Good Luck!

Buttercream Dream will stay good for weeks in the fridge. I take mine out a couple hours before I am going to use it so it can get room temp. I use milk in mine also but I do not refridgerate the cake after it is decorated. Hope this helps you. You are smart to ask questions here as the members here are the greatest help!

I've kept BC dream in my fridge for almost two weeks, and it still tasted awesome. I'm not sure how long it lasts.
I think you need to take it out of the fridge long enough for it to return back to room tempurature so you can make sure it's thin enough to put on your cake.
