Does anybody know a way I could put painball splats on my cake if I don't own an airbrush machine? I was wondering if I could mix colors with water and some how spray the cake????

My only other option is a FBT/RIT.

Thanks!

I did a paint ball cake one time, and I used fondant and cut out the shape of a splat and put on cake, it was really cool, guys really loved it.

I saw a thing in a wilton book one time using colored marshmallow creme. They did it just like color flow, but right on top of the cake. It was great. It looked shiny, too.

forgot to say they heated it up a bit.........lol

LoriMc - what type of frosting are you using? That may dictate what type of splat to make.....

Well, the person I am making it for doesn't like fondant on her cakes. I even did a RBC picture one time, and I think she didn't like it as much as regular buttercream. I will ask her about the marshmallow cream, but my guess is she would prefer buttercream icing.

I wonder if I heated the bc icing in the microwave until it was runny then splatted it on the cake???

What about using that sugarveil stuff? Since it stays flexible you could color it and splat it onto a silicone mat and then peel it off and apply it to the cake? I think that'd be nice and realistic.

how about candy melts in the color you want, melt them, use an ice cream scoop and splat them on to some parchment paper, cool till set then apply to your cake.

Somebody just posted a paintball cake... I don't know how they did it but it looks great! You might PM them. (I remembered reading this a few days ago and when I saw the picture thought of this thread!) Good luck!

I'd probably try standing on a ladder or something else high, and dropping candy melts onto waxed paper. Then peeling them off and pressing into the buttercream. If that failed, I'd probably end up just piping freeform splats - again out of candy melts - with a round tip. I'd go for the candy melts becuase of the shiny finish, but you could do the same with buttercream.

Honey, if you could see me, you'd REALLY get the giggles. Let's say my avatar is deceiving.

But, all giggling aside...for real...that's how I'd do it. LOL

what about looking for a clipart of a paintball splat on the internet and then doing a transfer with piping gel? you could scale it to different sizes on your computer and do differnt colors...

My dad owns a Paintball field and this was the first thing that came to my mind.
