Trick For Not Getting Stained Hands When Coloring Mmf

I keep seeing on here how some people have stained hands for days when coloring MMF without wearing gloves and thought I would share something that has helped me a great deal.
I don't wear gloves. This is what I do. I take the tops off of the color(s) I plan to use and line them up. I scatter a bunch of toothpicks on a paper towel where I am working. Then I just put some Crisco on my hands and rub it in like I would hand cream, pick up my MMF and knead it a bit.
Then pick up a toothpick, dip it into my color and rub it onto my MMF and knead. Just keep repeating with clean toothpicks until you have the desired color and discard the used toothpicks one at a time onto the paper towel. If you need more Crisco, rub a little more on your hands.
You have to have it set up before you start because your hands will be greasy, but when you are all done you just have to set the MMF down and wash your hands in warm soapy water.
Honestly, all of the color comes right off my hands - even if I have been using black, red or dark blue. And a little of the Crisco goes into the MMF, making it a little easier to work with, IMO, and less sticky.
Hope this helps someone.
Thank you for the tip. I just bought a bag of gloves last night. I don't like working with them, but I don't want stained hands either. The Wilton gloves are too big and for me they are hard to work with.

I agree, gloves are nasty....I always imagine that I can taste the latex in my fondant when I'm done. The Crisco trick makes a lot of sense....when I'm going to wear stage makeup I first put on a heavy moisturizer underneath, so the makeup washes right off after the show....this is the same thing. Thanks!
