So I'm now talking with a Lady about teaching Cake Sculpting Classes and she asked me how much i would want to charge but I havent the faintest idea of what to charge.
For the first class I would want to make a Duckie that I call Qwackers (I think I was able to link it below but if not its in my profile too)I think this class could be broken up into 2 classes of 2 or 3 hours each to fully complete it.
So are there any Teachers out there who could help me put some light and price on this class. I have no idea what classes go for when it comes to more complicated things like this.
Thanks in advance for any and all help,
Belinda

Well, to make THAT cake (which by the way is ADORABLE!) in my area (Western KY) I think I'd expect to pay $50-$60 and that wouldn't include the supplies. That is a lot of work and a lot of time for the instructor.
By the way, wish I were IN California....'cause I wouldn't hesitate to sign up for your classes, girl!

i think $50 is on the low side. i took a class here in michigan for a sculpted turkey cake. it took 2 days. it cost 125. it included the cake, but no other supplies
I was just on a designer's website that made beautiful sculpted cakes. Her class for a horse sculpted cake was $1000!!!!! I wish I remembered the website to share.
If the students are supplying everything I think $50 is a reasonable price. I just paid $40 for a 3 hour fondant class through Country Kitchen, but everything was provided.
I was paid $30 per hour to teach basic decorating for 12 - 3 hour sessions.
First, Your qwacker is super duper cute!
And so are your cakes nice!!
My hub and I have discussed this and felt $150 at the low end for medium-difficult cake.
Sculpting should be more. Bronwyn Webber is like $350 for some of her classes.
I have also sculpted many cakes and usually charge
$350 and up.

Well that exact ducking cake there would serve about 60-70 ppl and I believe we charged $250 for it. It has quite a bit that goes into it so I was thinking that I would charge somewhere from $120 - $140.
I've been thinking up idea's for other classes so that some will range from $90 for simple cakes like a Ultra stylized cupcake cake to a small 1.5 ft wine bottle standing verticle for maybe $175.
I'll be meeting with the Lady that owns the shop next week. She said she can help with comming up with the specific price for our area but I think this is along the lines of what would be fair for my time and knowledge. I was also able to find some info on a class in the bay area and they charged 130 for basic decorating classes.
Well thanks for all the info, I'm going to work on lesson plans now. wish me luck.
Thanks so much again, I really appriciate the help.
