Ok so this might be a stupid question but I honestly don't know. Is there a boxed carrot cake or is it only made from scratch? I have never seen it before in the store so I was just wondering. I have a friend who wants me to make one for her and I couldn't find it anywhere in any brand. I have never made it from scratch either. So if someone can tell me if say Duncan Hines or Pillsbury make one or if they have an easy recipe for making one I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't think they sell carrot cake in a box, however they do sell spice cake and you can add the carrots, nuts and raisins to make it a carrot cake. Chek out the cakemix doctor on how to manipulate the ingredients in a box cake mix to what you desire.

Here in the UK, there is a Duncan Hines Carrot Cake mix. I haven't tried it, as I much prefer my scratch recipe, but it is out there!

There IS a boxed carrot cake...I think it may be DH...I have used it before, it's pretty good. I usually add some real shredded carrots to it, and have added nuts and coconut too. I tried adding pineapple, like some of the scratch recipes call for, and it makes it too heavy, in my opinion. HTH

You can make it from scratch if you want. Check the Recipes tab for some good carrot cake recipes.
You can use a spice cake mix, it tastes very good. And yes there is also a Carrot Cake cake mix, but it's not always easy to find.
If you haven't already I strongly suggest investing in the book called "The Cake Mix Doctor", there is a very light and yummy recipe in there for carrot cake. The recipe calls for a yellow cake mix, but I've used a spice one and a carrot cake one.

Betty Crocker does make a carrot cake recipe (as tarabell said). Search on their website for their Ultimate Carrot Cake recipe. It starts with the box mix and you add a bunch of stuff - it is YUMMY! The only change I make is add 3/4 cup of shredded carrots to the Ultimate Carrot Cake recipe. I have never made scratch cakes - just don't have the desire to.

Betty Crocker does make a Carrot Cake Mix. I would add to it also. Scratch is my favorite too and not hard at all

I researched this very thing a few days ago, the box mix of doctored spice was recommended, but hands down, most said that using the Southern Living recipe from scratch was the best.

You can find a carrot cake mix, but you'll NEVER beat the taste and texture of a carrot cake from scratch (and they are not as tender and specific as some scratch cakes) Carrot cake is kinda hard to mess up.
This is the best carrot cake I've ever had (found it right here):

Yes, there is a Carrot Cake box. I am doing it for Easter this Sunday. I got mine at Walmart. I don't have a super Walmart, just plain old Walmart and it is in the food section with the sauces and baking supplies. I assume they would have it in the Super Walmarts, too. HTH
