My husband suggested setting up a website to help with my company. Neither of us are computer people. For those out there how do you go about setting one up? Also is it very expensive to do it?
Thanks
I have a website (not a business or cake one.. just personal) and I use netfirms. You have to register your domain name with them (4.95 for whole year) and they host you (basic package) for only 4.95 a month. Now that's only the basic package so if you had alot of pictures you might want to get the the packages with more space. Just check is out. It's netfirms.com. ![]()
so they put the whole thing together for you? Do your website etc?

Actually no, I'm sorry they don't. I actually did mine myself. Sorry
Actually all the sites that give you templates and such are kinda stupid. The templates look like they are done by 10 year olds. But if you find one, then that's great. ![]()
Mine is here but it's not done yet. :/ www.so-obvious.net I have a seperate host because I get it free from proudmomma.com.
You might also try yahoo.com they have free web space and others starting at about $4.95, they also give you, software to design your site with or with out templates, many other programs have website design capibilities, such has printmaster, print artist, microsoft frontpageor publisher, the printshop, and also many free ones on line. I agree with your husband having your work on line will help with business, almost everyone is looking for something online. I have designed several websites, some of my own and some for $$ it can actually be alot of fun.
You might want to check with your internet provider. Many internet packages come with a certain amount of space to host your own website, so you wouldn't have to spend more money on another web provider. If you want to have the site designed for you, which I would recommend if you aren't computer people, you'll need to do a bit of research.
Look in your area for web designers- if you want to keep costs down, maybe students in a web design program at a local college would be a good choice. Or, if you have more money to invest, go with an advertising/marketing company that works with small businesses. They will help you with "branding" your business and making your website sharp and easy to navigate. You'll also want to make sure it's easy to update with new photos, information, etc.
There are so many options and skills required to give your business a web presence that is going to give you great results- working with photos and images, making the site easy to navigate and pages that download fast, giving it a professional look and feel, making it easy for customers to contact you for a quote, etc. I would definitely have someone to do it for you!
