How do you all market or promote for graduation? This is my first year to be officially in business and I'm not sure how to go after this business. I don't have a shop so I lack that visibility. There is a big university here, 3 large public high schools, a couple private high schools plus the middle schools/jr high have a promotion ceremony.
Any thoughts on this? TIA! 
We know some of the girls that are in sororities, we are putting up flyers in the sorority houses. We also made a sample cake (as practice) and will take pictures of it to include on the flyer. You can always include the college logo for interest. The school let my daughter put flyers up in the teachers lounges, sent flyers home with the children. We put several pictures on the flyers. We are just getting started but word of mouth, and flyers help. You can print your own business cards and flyers and still make them look professional. Good luck
If they're having an after prom party (all-night lock-in type thing), donate a cake for that (usually will get you a "Thank You" listing in the local paper for the donation).. That gets you in touch with at least 30 Moms & Dads who work on organizing the event (the reciprocity sale type thing). Also if they're doing an After Grad party one for that as well... Those put your cake in the mouths of the people putting together the same parties you're wanting to generate business from for the next two years. Otherwise, if they don't have an after prom/grad party find out if they're doing food at the prom itself. Mind you, the thing to do for the donation is a mini centerpiece or dummy cake that fits their theme that they can look at all night, but then just do flat sheets in pans to do the servings because it isn't exactly a wedding and not every student is going to have a slice because a lot of the girls are in that "I don't want to be seen eating in front of ANYONE phase" but will sneek a small piece anyway..
Another idea is check with your local paper if they're doing a graduation section honoring the grads (usually comes out about two weeks or so before graduation)... Offer a coupon for $5 or whatever is reasonable to you for ordering their cake by a certain date.
