Hi,
I have a big question for the experts, its gonna b the firts time i try to do MMf fondant, but i didnt find white mashmallows, only green with bleu and white, and pink, all mix colours, will that interfear a lot with the colouring process? Iam gonna colour the MMF blue, and another part red, (Iam doing a Spiderman cake or at least try to)!
I really wanna do a good job and impress me 6 year old and his friends.

i would use marshmallow creme or fluff in place of actual mm's, if you can only find colorful ones. just use 16 oz mmcreme, 2 tsp flavoring, and up to 2 lbs powdered sugar. make it exactly like you would with mm's (after they've been melted). make sense?

I agree, I wouldn't use those colored marshmallows for MMF. It might work if you were going to color the MMF a very dark color, but it would be impossible to predict your results.

I would use the mm creme also. I made my first batches of MMF today. I used regular white then used the limited edition strawberry pink ones. The pink batch was just as dark as the marshmallows. I didn't add any extra color; I figured that when I added all that powdered sugar that the pink would be very light. You'd probably end up with a yucky brown color.

I never knew that fondant was so hard to do!! My mom and husband tried and gave up but i just couldnt, i kneaded and kneaded until it was done !!! I think i lost 1 or 2 kilos just kneading LOL! But it was worth it i loved the cake!! Its far from perfect but it was my fisrt fondant cake.
All my friends couldnt believe that i had made it and that i made the fondant there was even a girl that said that she didnt even know why i gave myself the trouble to do it when i can buy it but i told there is nothing more special than seeing your little boys pride about the cake that momy made.

Love and kisses to all

Making the cake yourself is so-o much better than buying it! You did a wonderful job. I'm glad you wouldn't give up. I'm sure you were the hero of the day for your little boy!!

If the fondant is too hard just microwave it for A FEW seconds at a time until it gets soft enough to work. Beware, it can get hot and burn you!!
Also, you don't always need to use all of the powdered sugar. It depends on the humidity in your area.
