HELP

I need to frost my cake today for my last class in Fondant. I was wondering if I can use a Whipped Cream Frosting under the Fondant? Or would I be better off just using a regular frosting (powdered sugar, Wilton Butter Creme Frosting)?

im sure you could use whipped frosting. i dont remember hearing not to anyway. i dont think fondant has a reaction to any kind of icing.

I've not done it myself, because I don't do much fondant, but if the whipped cream frosting has to be in the refrigerator, then I would say no because I've been told fondant in the refrigerator is a bad idea. It sweats or something. HTH.

You can use whipped cream frosting under fondant. Just make sure you ice it smooth because any imperfections will show when you place the fondant. You can refrigerate fondant as well. Just make sure when you take it out, not to touch it because it will "sweat". After some time in room temperature, the fondant will be fine. HTH.

I'm not sure that I would use real whipped cream icing under fondant. It is so soft and reactive to the warm of your hands that I would worry about it seeping out from the bottom when you are smoothing the cake.

But you could certainly fill the cake with wc icing and even try to use a very thin coat to get the fondant to stick to the outside of the cake. But it won't act like a crumb coat that bc does to hide some imperfections and irregularities in the cake like bc will.

You can successfully refrigerate fondant though like fooby said, just don't touch it till the condensation dries.
