Just a few questions before I attempt this.

1. Do you freeze after it is cooled?

2. For how long do you freeze it?

3. How is it wrapped? Is it left in the pan? wrapped in something?

Any help would be wonderful!!!

Yes - you can freeze after it's cooled.

You can freeze it as long as you want, but it depends on what you're needing I guess. You can freeze it to use for a later date, or you can freeze it for a shorter time so it's colder and easier to handle.

I do not leave my cakes in the pan to freeze. After the cake is cooled on the rack, I wrap it WELL with plastic wrap and then, if I can, in a ziplock bag. If my cake is too large for ziplock I use foil just to help seal it. To be safe you can use the plastic wrap and foil then put it in a ziplock. They make HUGE ziplock bags now. Whichever you do, make sure and wrap it in plastic wrap first.

If I am just freezing for 1-2 hours in order to sculpt I honestly don't bother to wrap it. I only wrap it if i am storing it.

Tiptop's top tip......no need to freeze unless you are planning each step down to a timed wired......I use to freeze thinking it would work better for carving......now I just bake the day before and use a very sharp knife and a pound (type) cake recipe before I crumb coat the carved cake.........
