I love the look of the basketweave on cakes, and believe I have the hang of it. My question is when marking the cake for the vertical posts, are you supposed to have an odd or even number of posts? icon_rolleyes.gif

I actually never mark my cakes to do the vertical posts. I find it too time consuming. When I get around the beginning again I can pretty much tell how many vertical lines I can fit in, so I slightly adjust as I finish the last few sets of lines. Usually it's so close to perfect that you can't even tell. Hope that helps you out some!

We just did this in class Wednesday evening. It's even.

The oval course II final cake has 32 marks, just in case anybody was wondering, LOL!

Laura.

It's an even number and I mark mine off.

It should be even. You can mark your cake by dividing it in half, then fourths, eighths, and so forth. This will help you match up at the end.
