I am looking at buying a blender but am not sure what I want. There are so many out there I am looking for your opinions on what you have and what you like.
We will be looking to make quite a few drinks with it. Fruit, smoothie, frozen... so I need something durable for the ice for sure.
Any help is appreciated!
I have a kitchen aid that I love and has lasted for over 10 yrs.
I have a vita-mix, and it is the best $$ I have ever invested. I LOVE IT!! I make protein smoothies, smoothies that I freeze into popsicles for my daughter, ice coffee's like a frappacino, it is endless!
I bought mine refurbished to save on some$$ But it was still $300! UGH, but so worth every penny.
I just popped on amazon to see ratings. There are plenty of blenders that get good ratings and a wide variety of prices too. My personal experience has been that you don't need an expensive blender to get a good one. Keep an eye on what replacement parts cost too because if you do a lot of ice, you will need a new blade sooner than later. Amazon also had some refurished blenders come up, so you could get a better known brand like KA or Cuisinart for less if that's what you wanted.
Just remember that you'll get out of a product, the money you put into a product. In the time I've been married (less than 5 1/2 years) we've been through 3 blenders (simply b/c dh had the theory that "cheaper is better") so yeah each time I got a "decent" blender but certainly not the best blender. So after investing in 3 different blenders, and 2 of them cracking and breaking, and the 3rd burning out the motor (b/c dh thought it should perform like a vitamix)...I finally bought a vitamix (I found a military family who was selling theirs so I got mine for $150 -it had been used like 10 times maybe, so it was a bargain), best investment, plus you can do SO much w/ this blender...you can use it to make AND knead bread dough, you can use it to make smoothies, you can make your own peanut butter, you can make ice cream w/it, soup w/ it, powdered sugar, just about anything you can think of to make in there...except mashed potatoes, the blender is so powerful it would liquify them.
