Hi,
I'm trying to make an icebucket cake with a champagne bottle in it, but I have no idea how to make the ice.
I can't find anything in Holland to make it from candy.
Do any of you have any ideas.
Thank you

Hmmm...how about making rock candy. I am not sure how big you can get the crystals. Maybe a large container/double batch?? Here is a link to make rock candy...

You can try using clear gelatin and putting it in ice cube trays.

Someone here did a cake that had the look of ice and they used clear candy pieces. I would take a look in the gallery and then PM someone who has the look you want. Most of the time you get a reply. Good luck.

I have an order for a beer cake and wanted to do a cooler cake - so I have already done a bit of research for you! Unfortunately the lady has flat refused and wants a bottle instead. There are a lot of cooler cakes here with ice, some use rock candy, and others use extra gelatin jelly (I think US jello?) sliced into squares. Do a search for 'cooler'.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I think I 'll try it with gelatin.
Thanks again

In Europe you can generally get Kandis, which we use to sweeten tea, it's rock sugar all ready, maybe they have it in Holland as well, look in the tea aisle at the supermarket. You can get it in brown or clear
