That's me. Can't stand to throw any thing out but run out of room to store left-over icing. Especially the little bits. You know what I mean? Even my daughter kept saying, " Do we really have to throw it out?"

Then I remembered someone on CC had suggested wrapping icing in saran wrap to use to not mess-up the bags and I thought hey....that would work and voile(spelling??)......storage issue solved! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

What do you think?

what a great I idea.. I normally just throw my bags and coupler in the fridge and pull it out within a few days... i only would use the leftover on my family though cause I was afraid my icing would taste funny after being in the fridge, but from here on out.. to the freezer it goes!

This is exactly what I mean. I didn't have anymore small sizes. But now I won't be using them again. Even if its a lot of icing this will work because you can just put this tube (opened in one end) into the decorating bag and squeeze. So cool.

p.s. And now I'm my daughter's hero. Nice perk!

I started doing this all the time, even when I have just a little bit of icing left. It makes it so much easier to add little details of a different color to cakes & you also save color paste as well.

Some people also mix all of their left over colors together and mix, you eventually get black, or a good base to add black food coloring too with all the different colors.

Great idea!!!

I use disposable decorating bags so i just pop the coupler out and throw the whole bag into the freezer in a baggie. That way when I need to refill another empty bag, I just put the end that used to have a coupler on it, into the new bag and squeeze it down. That way I don't have to scrape it off the plastic wrap and I can dump the ones i want together. You can put 2 colors into one bag side by side this way too.

Hope this makes sense!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I do the same thing! I thought I was being silly, but it is such a pain to mix colors if you only need a few accents.

You can mix all the colours together and add a bit of cocoa powder too....it's a great chocolate icing for just a scrap cake for the family! icon_twisted.gif

I'll have to start doing this! I always just throw out my extra icing. Great idea!
