first of all, thanks to everybody for always being quick to answer questions posted here, i was in the middle of this cake and panicked...it was my first attempt at fondant, and i couldn't get it smooth. i read and reread all of the instructions i had and couldn't figure out what i was doing wrong. i got on the computer...asked a question...and was rescued within 5 minutes!!! i dno't know what i would have done without that help.

going on, this was my first wedding cake, first fondant, first stacked and pillared construction, and first time to transport such a creation. boy was i a nervous wreck!! oh, yeah, and the color changed thursday before a sunday delivery (from white on white). but it was a hit! i live in a small town where you don't have too many choices about where to get a cake decorated unless you go to a grocery, so hopefully more business is on the way!

so, now, let me have it...i want all the constructive criticism you've got, please. i was happy with it, but i know that it could have been better. but, i am never really happy about my own work anyway.

You have just summed up every decorator I have ever met! LOL...we are our own worst critics!

What a great cake! For a first stacked/pillared construction I think you did an amazing job. Ease and confidence will come with time! I for one, am never THRILLED with my own work! I like your swirls on the sides and I love the shades of pink you chose...as for the fondant icing, yours looks MUCH, MUCH better than my first attempt. (icon_redface.gif...not pretty!)

I think you did a beautiful job!!! I've only used fondant twice, so I can't give you any tips on that. You did a great job of smoothing your fondant.
