What Is The 50/50 Gumpaste Fondant Mixture

hi guys

this is my second time trying to do a bow with the fondant. yet my mixture is so soft that when I put in on the rolling pin to dry it streches and pull apart. would the gum past fondant mixture work and if so do you have the what to what mixture to use.

50/50 gumpaste and fondant works pretty good for me for bows.

Not to sound critical, but your fondant might need to be stiffened with some powdered sugar before mixing with the gumpaste? Hope someone can help further. icon_redface.gif

for this you need to use equal amounts of gum paste to fondant. So if you use 1/4 cup gum paste mix it with 1/4 cup of fondant. Or match the weights if you have a scale.

adding power sugar might be the problem too . Yet with the gumpaste do i just knead the gumpaste into the fondant. this is about my third attempt at making this type of bow and I know it just can't be this hard.

Yep, just like it was fondant. And adding the gumpaste might just make your fondant work better?
I've done several bows (in my photos) and I liked the last one I made using the gumpaste mixed in (Jen and Pauls heart-shaped cake). One thing to remember - when you add the gumpaste, your bow will dry faster.

Thanks for the heads-up on adding the power sugar. I went back and adding some more power sugar since i did not add nearly as much as the recipe had call for at first and the bow strips did not pull apart . I look in your photos and I love all of your bows and ribbons I am trying to do a bow like the calla lilly photo you have. Thanks!
